HOSPICE OF THE CHESAPEAKE -- PET THERAPY
Hospice of the Chesapeake is seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to join our robust Healing Arts Program with their four-legged, Canine Companions to visit our patients and their family members. Pet therapy, which is proven to reduce pain, anxiety, and depression, provides a unique layer of support for our patients and their families that lead to smiles, laugher, and an increase in positive feelings. Dogs must already be certified, with a strong preference for certification with Pet Partners or Therapy Dogs International. Pets-on-Wheels certification also accepted, as well as other smaller associations.
At Hospice of the Chesapeake, our overarching mission is to care for life throughout the journey of illness and loss by providing physical, psycho-social, and spiritual support services to individuals living with and affected by advanced illness. As a fully licensed, community-based non-profit organization, we provide services to those in need at the place that they call home - regardless of their age or ability to pay. An integral component of this team-oriented, holistic approach is our Hospice Volunteer Team, who consistently serves above and beyond to support our hospice patients and their families in a variety of ways. Hospice Volunteers are one of the few who can make a true difference in someone’s life by offering a small portion of their time, energy, and skills.
